How we counted

Plans are the plan and segment IDs CMS lists in each county in its CY2027 plan file (October 2026 release). That covers Medicare Advantage plans with and without drug coverage, plus special needs plans. Employer group plans, cost plans and stand alone drug plans are not in that file, so they are not counted here. The 2026 count comes from the CY2026 plan file (September 2026 release). Premium is the combined monthly plan premium (Part C plus Part D) that CMS lists, before any Part B giveback or extra help. Stars are the 2027 overall rating, where CMS has one.

Members are everyone in a Medicare Advantage plan in the county in CMS's October 2026 enrollment file, employer group plans included. We group them by parent company as CMS names it. CMS hides counts of 10 or fewer, so totals are floors and very small counties show none.
